"I happen to have heard the most horrible rumours about you. Utterly ridiculous. I mean, who would believe that the Ventrue lord was once a mere stable boy who was embraced in a case of mistaken identity. Preposterous. But if someone happened to believe...
Yes, a favour would silence my tongue and those of my clan.
But now we need to address the matter that none of us were invited to this intriging meeting." - Esther Rosenberg
Esther was a LARP character of mine in a Vampire LARP series based on Vampire the Masquerade. She was a Nosferatu and my costuming involved a large amount of face putty and creative use of eyeshadow to discolour and add false shadows.
Wooohooooo! This may be my best yet!
OK, I have a confession to make. I "cheated". I wanted to do this pictures as quickly as possible, but also wanted it to look good. So I took a pic of myself and traced the pose. Since this an impression of my old costuming me as the base made sense.
It was only a little cheat - I still had to make the face look horrid (no snarky comments) and change the shirt and colours and so shading and stuff... and I think I did pretty well, I may be learning! (For one I learnt not to be afraid to make shadows darker than I was so that it looks less insipid - I still need to work on it though).
Comments always appreciated.
Edit: Almost forgot to add! Textures are from brushes by [link] - I had fun playing with these.
That's very good for your first shot! You should see some of my earlier attempts at artwork... they were pretty bad. The textures look great... they really help to add character to it
Practice, practice and more practice! That's the key, though. And a graphics tablet, if you can afford it. It helped me IMMENSELY. But great job!
You know, at first I wanted to comment on your stained -glass pic, because that's something I've been trying a lot (not in electronic art, but just with black ink and watercolours - which is the best way to train it), that if you were looking for aid you could make the outlines of the glass shapes darker, which then lets the colours of the "glass" shine more...and therě's also the rule of a main "pattern" or "spine", two or more lines going through all the picture to support the web of lead "laces" that hold the glass pieces together and..blahblah...
Oh my and theb I saw this - you definitely have a talent for painting, that means - omitting any outlines and dealing just with colour spots and shades. I like it a lot.
PS.Sorry for such a long silence - I had no chance to reach my account here for ...like 2 months... but I'm back and will post some scraps soon, I promise...though tis will be more pencil-drawings than anything else
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
